FAQs

Our Most Common Questions

What makes it more durable and protective than other backpacks?

Most other backpacks are made entirely from materials such as cotton, canvas, nylon or leather. These materials aren't sturdy enough to protect their contents from impacts or drops, and often aren't overly waterproof either.

On the other hand, the Protege provides a hardshell casing around its contents, made from a unique polycarbonate/chromophore mix. This casing provides sturdy protection, ensuring the backpack itself handles the shock absorption, rather than your valuables hidden inside.

How do you clean the Protege?

Cleaning up the Protege is super simple!

For the exterior PC shell : A wet rag and some scrubbing will do.

For the nylon interior : Some wet wipes for any dirt and grime, or a vacuum for things like crumbs.

For the back padding : A quick hand wash with soap or laundry detergent, then leaving it to air dry should do the trick.

What does "weather/spill proof" really mean?

By weather/spill proof, we mean it's very resistant to rain, to snow, and spilled drinks.

Basically, it's super water resistant!

However, if the backpack were to be completely submerged in water, you'd be fresh out of luck.

We did, however, do a submersion test and found that the backpack on its own does in fact float. Regardless, we wouldn't recommend trying to use it as a substitute life jacket.

How does our 60 day guarantee work?

It's super simple!

If you're not 100% satisfied with your purchase after 60 days, or you're having problems that we can't fix, you can simply request a return. We'll handle the rest.

What does "TSA approved" mean?

TSA approved simply means that our locking mechanism is recognized and approved by the TSA.

Airport security has specially made master keys, so that rather than tearing into your luggage or backpack they can simply unlock it if necessary.

How long does shipping usually take?

Shipping times depend entirely on your location, and the shipping method chosen.

With your purchase, you receive an email with your order number and tracking number which can be used to check on the status of your order.

If you're having difficulty using a tracking number, please feel free to contact us directly.

Is the built in lock actually theft proof?

The simple answer : Not 100%.

Just like the locks on your house or car, most things aren't 100% theft proof. They're in place to act as a deterrent; the harder you make it, the less likely someone will go through the trouble to break in.

However, our anti-theft lock system is still quite robust, and without proper tools and lots of time, a potential thief won't see your backpack as an easy target.
