50km/h Impact Test
Collapsible content
What this test demonstrates
The 50km/h impact test demonstrates :
- The shock dissipation ability of the Protege.
- Its resistance to sudden impacts.
- Its ability to keep a laptop secured and in place using the built in securing straps.
What this means for you
The Protege uses the physics of shock dissipation coupled with a durable outer shell to divert impact and drop energy around its contents, rather than through them.
Basically, you no longer have to worry about impacts with your backpack, as the impacts are routed away from your valuables.
A normal backpack made from mesh, polyester, canvas, etc, simply doesn't have the durability to handle large impacts without transferring the energy into what's inside.
Daily relevance
Potential situations :
Potential situations :
- You drop your backpack off your shoulder; your travel camera won't even notice.
- you knock your backpack off a table, chair, hanger, etc; your laptop walks off without a dent
Water Resistance Test
Collapsible content
What this test demonstrates
The water resistance test demonstrates :
- The overall water resistance of the Protege.
- The Proteges ability to redirect water, even at higher pressure.
What this means for you
With its water impenetrable polycarbonate shell, paired with its layered nylon polymer interior, the Protege excels at keeping water out and keeping its contents dry.
Should you get caught in heavy rain, a snow storm, or even just spill your morning coffee on the nag, you wont have to worry about soaking electronics, books or important documents.
A backpack made from mesh, polyester, canvas, etc, simply doesn't use the materials necessary to keep what's inside dry.
Daily relevance
Potential situations :
- It's raining heavily outside; you wont have to worry about frying your laptop.
- the weather calls for a snow storm; you can pack your bag without giving it a second thought.
- You want to participate in any water based activities (fishing, boating, SUP, swimming, etc); your towel, phone, and spare clothes will stay dry.
Fire Resistance Test
Collapsible content
What this test demonstrates
The fire resistance test demonstrates :
- The Protege's overall fire resistance.
- The amount time the Protege will protect items, should it catch on fire.
- Its ability to reduce heat transfer to the items inside.
What this means for you
With its fire resistant polycarbonate shell, the Protege creates a barrier between your valuables and open flames.
With prompt removal/extinguishing, you can rest easy knowing your backpack and flammable valuables will walk out unharmed.
Regardless, please take uncontrolled fire seriously, and extinguish any unplanned open flames before they become a serious hazrd.
Daily relevance
Potential situations :
- You're out camping, and leave your backpack near a campfire; while a little bit toasty, your gear is chillin'.
- Fortunately, we can't think of many daily occurrences where you or your bag would catch on fire. Feel free to contact us directly if you or your bag catches on fire to share your story!
120km/h Drop Test
Collapsible content
What this test demonstrates
This fast-paced drop test demonstrates:
- The shock dissipation ability of the Protege.
- Its resistance to sudden impacts.
- Its ability to keep a laptop secured and in place using the built in securing straps.
What this means for you
The Protege uses the physics of shock dissipation coupled with a durable outer shell to divert impact and drop energy around its contents, rather than through them.
Basically, you no longer have to worry about dropping your backpack or setting it down too hard, as the impacts are routed away from your valuables.
A normal backpack made from mesh, polyester, canvas, etc, simply doesn't have the durability to handle large drops/impacts without transferring the energy into what's inside.
Daily relevance
Potential situations :
- You drop your backpack off your shoulder; your travel camera won't even notice.
- you knock your backpack off a table, chair, hanger, etc; your laptop walks off without a dent
Theft Test
Collapsible content
What this test demonstrates
The theft test demonstrates :
- The durability and anti-theft capabilities of the Proteges locking mechanism.
- The inability to break in with various tools someone may be carrying.
What this means for you
With a durably constructed TSA locking mechanism, the Protege ensures people cant break into your backpack in a timely fashion.
Should someone try to go through your bag while unattended, they will be met with an impossible challenge. This means you can rest easy, knowing pickpockets will have no choice but to ignore you, and public transit, work, and public area thieves will have to look elsewhere for an easy target.
A standard backpack lacking a locking mechanism and with easily accessible pockets has no protection against such thieves. Petty theft happens all the time, (upwards of 400000 pickpocketing incidents occur every single day!) and the Protege is fortified so you don't become another victim.
Keep in mind no lock is unbreakable, including your house lock and car lock. Locks act as a potential theft deterrent, averting a thief's gaze to easier targets, and hindering them should they make a theft attempt on you. Remain mindful and vigilante, as if your entire bag gets stolen, a strong lock can't bring it back.
Daily relevance
Potential situations :
- You happen to trip, and fall backwards on your backpack; Fragile items will be spared.
- You throw your bag in the trunk, and your [insert heavy trunk item] slides and squishes your bag; your expensive laptop doesn't get cracked.
- You lean on your backpack without thinking; your lunch won't get squished.
Load Bearing Test
Collapsible content
What this test demonstrates
The load bearing test demonstrates :
- The structural strength of the backpack.
- The max tested load the backpack can hold before collapse.
- The fact that our backpack can bench more than you!
What this means for you
With a structurally strong polycarbonate shell, the Protege can hold up under extreme external pressure.
Simply put, this means you can rest easy when travelling or going about day to day life, as most situations can't put enough pressure on the bag to damage your items within.
A standard backpack made from mesh, polyester, canvas, etc, simply doesn't have the structural integrity to handle heavy impact and weight loads, leaving your items inside to take on whatever life throws at them, completely unshielded.
Daily life can be very unpredictable, and that's part of what makes it beautiful. Unfortunately, sometimes, a single unexpected event can leave you and your things in complete disarray.
Plan ahead, and make sure you're shielded from the unexpected!
